  • Ken Keiser – Discussion of current projects at UAH employing KML & GeoRSS
  • Brian Wilson – Use of Atom/GeoRSS and KML in search results
  • Josh Lieberman – Distributed Knowledge Management with GeoRSS
  • Siri Jodha – Discussion of Current Project at NSIDC - Cryospheric applications of Google Earth

Session # 2 Tuesday 4:00pm – 5:30pm - KML/GeoRSS continued

  • Any ad-hoc 3 minute talks on KML/GeoRSS?
  • Discussion topics (from Session #1))
    • How do we reuse simple, adopted standards like KML and Atom to exchange full metadata by standardizing more and more lightweight, modular schemas like GeoRSS?
    • How do we maintain interoperability between KML and other small metadata standards like Atom feeds? A goal would be round-trip conversion between KML and Atom docs.
    • Which implementation approaches are promising for the Earth science community?
  • Discussion: Ideas for the ideal HQ endorsement process for standards

  • Discussion: Is a reference standard – e.g. OAIS std – appropriate for SPG?
  • Discussion: Different types of Tech Notes & different levels of reviews/endorsement?
  • Discussion: which communities should we target for outreach?
  • Discussion: What other technologies should we track?
  • Discussion: resolution of the DIF RFC
  • Discussion : resolution of Backtrack Tech Note
  • Discussion: AURA Group’s new Tech Note about community building

Session #5, Thursday 10:30 – 12:30 – HQ Endorsement Discussion with Frank Lindsay

  • Discussion with Frank Lindsay – Strengthening the HQ endorsement process
    • SPG’s Ideal HQ endorsement process ;
  • Work plan for the next 12 months
