Old Action Items:

  • March 21 – Rich should send Thank You emails to Backtrack RFC reviewers

New Action Items:

  • May 30 - Glenn Cunningham will talk to Robert Wolfe and ask him about the Surface Reflectance Product RFC – if he still plans on submitting one.
  • May 30 – Rich will ask GPM project (Matt Schwaller) about any potential interest in defining a Precipitation product

Notes/Discussion:

  • Review of Action items – Ed Armstrong asked Steve Hankin if he is interested in submitting the CF Conventions RFC to the SPG. Steve doesn’t think he is the right person. Rich has been calling the new Access members, inviting them to join the SPG. Peter Leonard is new to this telecon and is here today as one of the results.
  • The revised RFC 1-3 have been finalized. No comments for final review. At the March telecon, the SPG decided that after the final editorial revisions were made and the SPG members had a chance for final review comments, that these revised documents are the new baseline set of documents. This completes the revision process of the RFC 1-3.
  • Helen reported on the HDF5 – It is in operational readiness review. Just got back 8 operational readiness review comments. We want about a dozen more. The HDF-EOS5 has a few more edits that the author needs to make to the document. Abe did the edits and sent the revised document to Larry Klein to proof and review before releasing it back to the SPG. We are waiting for Larry and Abe to complete this.
  • Backtrack RFC – no change – Ross has not revised the document yet.
  • Jingli reported on the AURA Guidelines document She is waiting for Cheryl to make the revisions. Peter Leonard could maybe help her.
  • Yonsook reported that Andy Mitchell and the ECHO Project has not made a decision yet on whether they will submit any ECHO RFCs to the SPG.
  • Glenn will talk to Robert Wolfe about the Surface Reflectance product RFC.
  • Siri Jodha talked to Gabrielle, the lead author for the Surface Reflectance terminology paper. Robert Wolfe is willing to take the lead in submitting this to the SPG. There is continued interest there. But no timeline.
  • Rich will ask GPM project, particularly Matt Schwaller, about any interest in defining a standard Precipitation Product.
  • The GeoTIFF RFC is not making any progress. Would some funding help in this case? Siri Jodha said that funding would definitely help get this RFC written and submitted.
  • Yonsook will check with Liping Di about the WCS RFC in about 6 months. The current WCS version is 1.0. The 1.1 version, coming out soon, is probably the one to target.
  • Any other RFCs we should track?
  • July 17 SPG meeting – we need to finalize speakers soon. Will Dave Danko talk about the North American Profile during his 19115 talk? Most probably.
  • The Oct ESDSWG meeting will be in the DC area. The venue has not been selected yet.
  • At the last ESDSWG telecon, a decision was made to move most of the content for the ESDSWG website to a new, external offsite website. The URL will be esdswg.org. The SPG website will move to that as well. Ananth is working with Steve Olding and David Isaac on that.
  • Daniel talked about the Oceans community outreach. He would appreciate getting contact info about any oceans community key member that you know. Ed Armstrong will send him info. So will Helen
  • There was a security alert for OPeNDAP servers at government sites. What should we do about this? We will schedule a telecon with James Gallagher and discuss this with him. We need to come up with a written recommendation on what to do about DAP 2 and DAP 2 implementations.
