Notes/Discussion:
- July 27 SPG meeting – Gi-Kong, Ming, and Siri Jodha are not planning on attending. John Evans requested time to present a talk about his implementation experiences with the CS/W.
- GEO TWG met via telecons. Prepared a summary of the catalog standards being used in the GEO Pilots and also some other standards being used. Rich sent the SPG opinion to Martha. The GEO TWG will be reactivated to complete the summary of all the standards noted in the GEOSS 10 year plan. But this will start after our July SPG meeting. Siri Jodha has comments on the standards in the 10 year plan. He will send to the GEO TWG group.
- RFC Status –
* HDF5 completed the process. Rich sent the recommendation for HDF5 to Kathy Fontaine. She is supposed to send it to Martha.
- HDF-EOS5 – out for operational readiness review.
- Backtrack Tech Note – no word from Ross Swick on when he will complete the revision.
- AURA Tech Note – the revised document is undergoing final review by Cheryl & her team. The SPG should get it pretty soon.
- GeoTIFF – no activity
- Surface Reflectance – no activity by Robert Wolfe. Rich should ask Robert if we should drop it or if there is someone else who can get this together.
- The fall ESDSWG meeting is scheduled for Oct 23-25 in Philadelphia. What should the SPG try to accomplish at the Oct meeting? Potential topics include
- Annual review of process
- Martha’s questions
- Standards for GEOSS
- Interoperability arrangements for GEOSS
- Virtual Globe?
- Daniel discussed the Oceans outreach work. He has a list of contacts for DMAC Expert Teams and for the IOOS. He has scheduling a series of introductory bi-lateral telecons with them to find out information about what they are doing and to give them some introductory info about the SPG. Daniel noted that the regional DMACs seem to be more active than the national DMAC. The regional DMACs are putting data online, and following the DMAC standards guidelines.
- The next SPG telecons are scheduled for
- Wed August 29 at 3pm ET
