Notes/Discussion:
- Helen has sent couple of emails to Rob Raskin, asking him about attending future SPG Staff telecon to discuss his future submission. He has not replied yet.
- Daniel noted that Russ said that the THREDDS is not ready for standardization but he is still checking on NetCDF API RFC.
- Ed Armstrong said that Steve Hankin is pushing to get someone to submit the CF-1 as an RFC. Steve asked Ed to review the documentation before submission.
- Introduction of new SPG members – Gao Chen, Mary Kleb, and Margaret Piepin all work together at LaRC on airborne data.
- RFC Status –
- DIF TWG – Allan said that the survey questions went out to the community via the spg-announce. We have 5 responses back so far, mostly positive. Still need more responses.
- NetCDF TWG – Ed said that the TWG has met 4 or 5 times. The Review questions are ready to go out. There was some discussion on whether the review questions should be in 2 separate documents or in one, separated into sections. The SPG decided that the review questions should be in one document, separated out into sections. Ed will revise the Review Question document and send that to Rich by Sept 19. Rich will send out the Review questions to the community by the following week.
- Backtrack RFC – Helen said the document revision should be done this week. Siri Jodha asked whether there was any discussion in the Tech Note about a limit for error estimate for the algorithm. Is there an accuracy estimate? Helen will ask Ross about an upper bound.
- John Scialdone noted that Lola would like to propose a SERF RFC. Is the SPG interested in this? The SPG members agreed that Lola should submit the SERF RFC. John will server as the editor again. Volunteers to do an initial review of the SERF RFC when it is submitted: John, Ananth, Helen, and Ed.
- Chris Lynnes would like to submit 3 Tech Notes that are the lessons learned from his ACCESS project. One has to do with the WCS Server installation lessons learned, second one has to do with Provenance info prototype, and the third has to do with OGC CS/W and WCS interoperability. SPG agreed that these tech notes would be useful for certain communities. This brings up a bigger question of – what types of tech notes possible and what kind of reviews do we need for the different types of tech notes. We need to discuss this in October.
- Siri Jodha will be attending the Oct SPG meeting. He will provide an update on the GEOSS SIF activity. Rich and Ted are co-chairing the N American Regional Team for SIF but not sure if that activity will be under way enough to report on it by Oct.
- Music night – Helen is exploring the music options for both Tues and Wed nights. Please send her any suggestions and comment on her info she has sent.
